Today it was announced that Regé will not be returning for season 2 of Bridgerton. It’s unfortunate, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing him in some other great projects very soon!
Another new project! Details are below.
EXCLUSIVE: Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard and Bridgerton breakout star Regé-Jean Page have rounded out cast of the Russos’ The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas. Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush and Julia Butters are also on board.
The Russos have been developing the project for some time at Sony, and when the package went back on the market over the summer, Netflix was quick to acquire it and set Gosling and Evans to star. The film will be the biggest-budget film in Netflix’s history on the feature side.
The production is starting in two weeks in Los Angeles. The film is a piece of the strong partnership Netflix and AGBO have garnered in the past year starting with Extraction, which premiered last April to some of the biggest viewing numbers in streamer history. They also worked on the critically acclaimed Mosul, which bowed in November on the streamer.
The Russos penned the script with a recent polish by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The Russos along with Mike Larocca will produce on behalf of AGBO along with Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Castaldi through their Roth Kirschenbaum banner.
The Gray Man is based on the debut novel by Mark Greaney, published in 2009 by Jove Books. It also is the first novel to feature the Gray Man, freelance assassin and former CIA operative Court Gentry. The action thriller will follow Gentry (Gosling) as he’s hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort at the CIA. The film is based on the first installment of the series.
Page is best known for his breakout role in the Netflix series Bridgerton and recently signed on to star in the Paramount’s untitled Dungeons & Dragons pic. He also appeared in the Amazon pic Slyvie’s Love. He is repped by CAA, Mosaic, The Artists Partnership, Ziffren Brittenham.
Welcome to Charismatic Regé-Jean Page! Like most people, I fell in love with Regé during Bridgerton in his role of the dashing Duke, and so, I wanted to create a tribute to this intelligent and charismatic actor. I look forward to his future projects and his return to Bridgerton for season 2!
Feel free to look around & I hope you enjoy your stay here! The gorgeous header was made by my lovely friend, Jay. Thanks for visiting!
“Bridgerton” star Regé-Jean Page has received an IMDb “Breakout” STARmeter Award, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
Page, who played Simon Basset, aka the Duke of Hastings, in Netflix’s hit period romance series, was given the honor for being among the “fan favorites” on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart, which is determined by the page views of the more than 200 million monthly visitors to IMDb. Previous winners in the “Breakout” category, which you can learn more about here, include Brie Larson, John David Washington, Bill Skarsgård, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Nicholas Braun and Anya Chalotra.
Page recently skyrocketed to the top of the IMDbPro STARmeter chart due to his leading role in “Bridgerton” and his performance in the Tessa Thompson-led Amazon Studios film “Sylvie’s Love.” According to IMDb data provided to TheWrap, Page ranked No. 1 on the STARmeter chart for most of January, while “Bridgerton” has continued to trend as a top series on the IMDbPro rankings of TV and streaming shows since its release on Dec. 25, 2020.
“Thank you, IMDb and IMDbPro — what a wonderful way to be recognized,” Page said. “It’s thrilling to think that so many people across the world have been excited by ‘Bridgerton’ and curious about our incredible team who put it all together. IMDb is such a great way to peek behind the curtain and get an insight into all the amazing links between artists, and trace the body of work that’s brought them to where they are today.”
“IMDb STARmeter Awards have proven to be a keenly accurate predictor of stars who are about to have a breakthrough career moment, and we are thrilled to present our first award of the year to Regé-Jean Page, who joins an elite group of previous STARmeter Award recipients including some of my favorite actors working today,” IMDb founder and CEO Col Needham said. “I loved his performance in ‘Bridgerton,’ and ‘Sylvie’s Love’ ranked as one of my Top Movies of 2020. On behalf of fans and professionals across the globe who turn to IMDb and IMDbPro to learn more about talent, films and TV shows, we are honored to celebrate Page and continue to watch his career grow.”
And in case you were wondering what shows Page himself is enjoying binging these days (while you’re on your third rewatch of “Bridgerton”), here’s his answer: “‘Small Axe,’ ‘I May Destroy You,’ ‘The Americans,’ ‘The Queen’s Gambit,’ ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and ‘His House’ have all helped carry me through the long haul of lockdown so far.”
Regé-Jean Page is going from the Regency-era romance of Shonda Rhimes’s wildly popular Bridgerton on Netflix to the sword-wielding, role-playing action of Paramount’s forthcoming movie adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons. The actor has been cast in a leading role in the movie based on the iconic game franchise from Wizards of the Coast. Page will join previously announced cast Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith.
Johnathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will direct and write the script based on a draft by Michael Gilio. Dungeons & Dragons is a leading fantasy entertainment franchise which is fueled by the imagination of storytellers around the world. The role playing game has been around for 46 years and more than 40 million fans have interacted with or played D&D. The franchise also includes videogames and livestream entertainment on Twitch and YouTube.
Jeremy Latcham is producing through his deal with studio eOne, Hasbro’s entertainment arm. Hasbro’s Brian Goldner is also producing. Hasbro/eOne and Paramount are jointly producing and financing, with eOne distributing in the UK and Canada, and Paramount distributing to the rest of world.
